Chelsea High School Wrestling Coach
Sean Kiebler
Sean Kiebler brings more than 20 years of wrestling coaching experience and a deep connection to the Chelsea wrestling community. His Chelsea journey began 13 years ago with the youth program. As his son moved on to middle school and high school wrestling, Sean moved with him — continuing to coach and stay involved at each level.
His wrestling background
Sean wrestled for Jim Dewland at Western High School in Parma, where he was a two-time state qualifier and finished seventh in the state.
He continued wrestling in college, competing as a varsity wrestler for two years at John Carroll University and three years at Michigan State University.
Giving back to the sport
For Sean, one of the most meaningful parts of coaching isn't simply what wrestlers accomplish on the mat — it's seeing what they do years later.
Five of his former high school wrestlers are now coaching youth, middle school, or high school wrestling in the area, continuing to pass the sport on to another generation.
Sean has coached numerous wrestlers who went on to place at the state finals, but he measures his impact by more than medals. Over more than two decades of coaching, he is proud of the difference he's been able to make in the lives of countless young men.
Still learning
Even after more than 20 years of coaching, Sean believes there is always more to learn. He credits coaches including Coach Young, Coach Hunter, Coach Chapman, and many others with continuing to influence him as a coach.
That willingness to keep learning is part of what has kept wrestling rewarding for him throughout his career.
The Chelsea wrestling community
“I continue to have an incredible time working with our Chelsea Wrestling Community.”
Sean's experience gives Chelsea wrestlers something particularly valuable: someone who understands the progression from youth wrestling through middle school and into high school because he has been part of that journey himself.
